2024 Choctaw Powwow
The Choctaw Powwow, scheduled for November 1 to November 3, 2024, features a range of events centered around dance and cultural expression. The festivities will commence on Friday, November 1, with vendor booth setup taking place from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Concurrently, the Gourd Dance will be held at the Choctaw Event Center from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm, providing an opportunity for participants to engage in traditional practices. Dancer registration will begin at 5:00 pm and continue until 10:00 pm, during which adult dancers will have the chance to compete in dance specials from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
The following day, Saturday, November 2, will be packed with more activities. Dancer registration will resume from 9:00 am to 11:00 pm, alongside drum registration within the same timeframe. Doors will open to the public at 10:00 am, leading up to the Grand Entry at noon. The afternoon will feature dance specials taking place from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, followed by another Grand Entry at 7:00 pm.
The event will conclude on Sunday, November 3, with doors opening again at 10:00 am. The day's schedule will include dance specials starting at 10:00 am and the final Grand Entry at noon. This Powwow promises a vibrant display of Choctaw culture through dance and community engagement.
