The 58th Annual Oklahoma Czech Festival is set to take place on Saturday, October 5, 2024, in Yukon, Oklahoma. This event, a long-standing tradition in the town, celebrates its rich Czech heritage and takes place on the first weekend of October. The festivities commence on Friday evening with a carnival in downtown Yukon, setting the stage for a lively weekend.
On Saturday, the festival officially starts at 8 a.m., building up to a major highlight, a parade that begins at 10 a.m. Thousands are expected to line Main Street from Garth Brooks Boulevard to 3rd Street to enjoy one of the largest parades in Oklahoma. After the parade, activities will move to the Oklahoma Czech building at 5th and Cedar, where attendees can enjoy polka bands and traditional Czech and Slovak folk dance performances throughout the day.
Participants will also have the opportunity to taste a variety of Czech foods, including koláče and klobasy sausages, expertly prepared by Oklahoma Czechs, Inc. Each year, volunteers bake over 2,500 dozen koláče, which are popular among festival-goers and often sell out quickly. Additionally, a range of arts and crafts booths, along with food vendors, will be present, offering unique items and tasty treats for attendees.
