  • 2024 Oklahoma Highland Gathering

The Oklahoma Highland Gathering serves as a vibrant celebration of Scottish and Celtic culture, featuring a diverse array of activities and entertainment. Attendees can look forward to internationally sanctioned highland games, where traditional athletic competitions take place, showcasing strength and skill. The event is rich in musical offerings, including performances by pipes and drums, as well as both modern and folk music acts that contribute to the energetic atmosphere.

The festival kicks off with a traditional Scottish fire ceremony hosted by USCO on Friday evening. This ceremonial event sets the stage for a ceilidh, which is an informal social gathering where folk music, singing, dancing, and storytelling create a sense of community among participants. The gathering is inspired by the esteemed Lonach Gathering and Braemar Gathering in Scotland, aiming to provide an authentic experience of Scottish heritage.

In addition to the highland games and musical performances, attendees can explore a variety of engaging activities. These include Highland dancing, Gaelic lessons, and hands-on experiences such as blacksmithing, lace tatting, and falconry. There are also opportunities to learn about clan heritage and ancestry through dedicated clan tents. For those looking to indulge their palate, whisky tastings will be available, alongside a selection of local food from vendors and food trucks, plus local beer and wine offerings. The gathering presents a comprehensive celebration of Scotland and Celtic traditions, ensuring an enriching experience for all attendees.
