The Texas State Legislature has designated the last Friday in September as American Indian Heritage Day, honoring the contributions of American Indian communities. The Bullock Museum, alongside Great Promise for American Indians, will host a range of activities to celebrate Indigenous cultures. Events will include dancing and drumming performances, interactive experiences for school groups, and on-demand digital resources, including a livestream of a performance at noon.
The schedule features activities for school groups from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., allowing students to explore American Indian diversity and traditions through hands-on stations. A public program from 6 to 8 p.m. will showcase traditional and contemporary performing arts, inviting attendees to honor the legacy of American Indians in Texas.
