A free program honoring America's veterans will focus on the history of the 36th Infantry Division of the Texas Army National Guard during World War II. The event will feature exhibitions by members of the Texas Military Forces Living History Detachment, showcasing the uniforms and equipment of American GIs and their German counterparts in the European Theater of the war.
Over the course of the two-day event, attendees will have the chance to see firing demonstrations featuring famous U.S. and German small arms from World War II. The event will also display a variety of historical items including tents, radio equipment, mess kits, and operational vehicles such as the M4 Sherman Tank, M3 Halftrack, and various Jeeps.
This event will occur regardless of weather conditions, and food and drinks will be available on-site from IOU BBQ. Bleacher seating will be provided for the demonstrations, which are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Saturday and at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. Additionally, the Texas Military Forces Museum will be open, allowing guests to explore its offerings from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the weekend. Both the program and museum admission are free.
