The Emma S. Barrientos Mexican-American Cultural Center will host the 17th annual Viva México celebration on September 14, 2024, from 5:00 to 9:00 PM at the Oswaldo Cantu Pan Am Recreation Center in Austin. This outdoor event will feature live mariachi and folkloric dance performances, family-friendly art activities, and a marketplace by Frida Friday ATX, showcasing local women and BIPOC artists. The evening will be led by MC Claudia Talamantez, with the Grito de Independencia delivered by Mexican Consul Humberto Hernández Haddad.
Viva Mexico celebrates Mexico's Independence Day and honors the diverse cultural traditions of Austin's Latino community. Despite ongoing renovations at the MACC, the event aims to maintain this cherished tradition. A free shuttle service will be available for attendees, along with information updates on the MACC's social media.
