  • Pedernales Falls State Park

Pedernales Falls State Park, situated 30 miles west of Austin, invites visitors to immerse themselves in the serene environment of the Pedernales River. The park offers a variety of outdoor activities including camping, hiking, mountain biking, picnicking, geocaching, bird watching, horse riding, and paddling. The river itself presents opportunities for swimming, wading, tubing, and fishing, amidst its sometimes tranquil, sometimes turbulent flow over limestone slabs. Despite its beauty, visitors are cautioned against swimming in the area.

The park features diverse trails ranging from the easy .5-mile Twin Falls Nature Trail to the challenging six-mile Wolf Mountain Trail, catering to both casual explorers and serious adventurers. Cyclists looking for a thrill can tackle the 10-mile Juniper Ridge Trail, a technical track demanding advanced skills. For equestrians, 10 miles of rugged trails await, though horses require shoes and riders must present current Coggins. With various camping options available, from water and electricity sites to primitive and group sites, Pedernales Falls State Park is a perfect escape to nature for families, friends, and solo adventurers alike.
