2024 Dallas Buddy Walk for Down Syndrome in Frisco
The 2024 Dallas Buddy Walk will take place on Sunday, October 20, from 11 AM to 3 PM, with the awareness walk scheduled for 2 PM. This event, benefiting the Down Syndrome Guild of Dallas, will be held at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas. Participants are required to register for entry, benefiting from access to all event activities and a commemorative event t-shirt. Registration fees apply for individuals aged 13 and older, while children 12 and under have a reduced fee, and individuals with Down syndrome can enter for free. Online registration will remain open until October 11.
The Buddy Walk is a national program initiated by the National Down Syndrome Society in 1995 to promote Down syndrome awareness. It now takes place in over 250 cities globally and raises substantial funds for local programs related to Down syndrome support. The Dallas Buddy Walk has become a key annual event, gathering over 5,000 participants-including individuals with Down syndrome, their families, and community supporters-to raise awareness and funds specifically within North Texas.
The event promises to be family-friendly, featuring various activities such as inflatables, music, games, face painting, and sponsor booths designed to engage attendees of all ages. Through the Buddy Walk, participants are encouraged to form teams with family, friends, and other supporters. Registration and additional donations contribute to funding essential programs and resources for individuals with Down syndrome and their families throughout the region.
Funds raised from the Dallas Buddy Walk will directly benefit the Down Syndrome Guild of Dallas, which aids more than 2,600 individuals with Down syndrome and their families in North Texas. A portion of the proceeds will be allocated to the National Down Syndrome Society, supporting national advocacy and resources that further benefit the local community.
