This musical, which has captivated audiences for over three decades, is a blend of Broadway and Hollywood sci-fi themes. Created by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, the show features memorable music and lyrics that have made it one of the most beloved productions globally. The story revolves around Seymour Krelborn, a timid floral assistant who discovers a peculiar plant he names 'Audrey II' after his love interest. This plant, however, has sinister qualities, as it offers Seymour fame and wealth in exchange for feeding it blood. As Seymour navigates this dangerous relationship, he learns about Audrey II's alien origins and its ambitions for world domination.
The production is directed by Cheryl Lowber, with choreography by Riley Madlock and musical direction by Preston Page. The cast includes students in grades 6 to 12, and the run time of the show is approximately two hours. While the musical is enjoyable for a broad audience, it includes adult themes, references to drinking, drugs, mild language, and depictions of violence or death, making it suitable for ages 10 and up.
The venue for the performances, Brodie Copeland Theatre, is located at 6121 W Park Blvd, Ste. B216 in Plano. The organizer for the event, NTPA – Dallas, can also be contacted for additional information.
