The exhibit tells the comprehensive story of flight, showcasing 35,000 unique artifacts, 40 air and space vehicles, and 20 galleries. It spans early dreams of flight, seen in the CREE Main Gallery's focus on early pioneers like da Vinci to the Wright Brothers, to modern advancements, including a diverse array of aircraft in the General & Commercial gallery. Noteworthy items include the first private pilot's license in America and the radio operator's chair from the Hindenburg.

The narrative continues through history with galleries dedicated to military aviation during World Wars I and II, highlighting significant aircraft and the role of DFW's manufacturing plants. The exhibit transitions into the Cold War and Vietnam, showcasing advancements and honoring American soldiers' sacrifices. Modern air power and space flight are explored with artifacts from major NASA missions and a look into Southwest Airlines' history, emphasizing aviation's evolution and its impact on society and warfare.
