The Storybook Trail, a collaborative initiative by the Allen Public Library, Allen Parks and Recreation, and additional partners, offers an engaging self-led reading experience along a half-mile paved path at the Stephen G. Terrell Recreation Center. Visitors can enjoy a unique outdoor adventure by following sequentially placed kiosks that display pages of a children's storybook. The current featured book from January to April 2024 is 'The Couch Potato' by Jory John.

This innovative project aims to foster a love for reading and the outdoors within the community. It replaces the library's previous StoryWalk, building on its success and the positive feedback received. The trail is part of a broader effort to promote literacy and art in public spaces, highlighted by the 'Sun Creature Series' artwork along the path. The Storybook Trail invites families to immerse themselves in stories while enjoying the beauty of Allen's natural environment.
