  • Founder's Park In Georgetown

Founded at the site of a significant historical meeting, Founder's Park in Georgetown, Texas, holds rich historical relevance. This location served as the gathering point in 1848 for Williamson County's first commissioners who convened beneath an oak tree to deliberate on the placement of the county seat. The land, which was generously donated by George Washington Glasscock and his business partner Thomas B. Huling, is bordered by the San Gabriel River to the north and west.

Today, Founder's Park features various amenities, including picnic areas and restrooms, making it an accessible spot for community gatherings and recreational activities. Although the original oak tree was lost to a storm in 1886, the park continues to serve as a tangible connection to Georgetown's past, preserving the area's heritage and providing a peaceful environment for visitors. The park operates daily from early morning until evening.
