  • 2024 Stockyards Stampede

Stockyards City Main Street is preparing for the annual Stockyards Stampede, set to take place on Saturday, October 19th. The event will commence at 10:00 a.m. with a parade featuring Slash O' Ranch Longhorns starting at the Oklahoma National Stockyards archway on Exchange. Following the parade, the longhorns will be available for viewing at the National Saddlery Arena until 2:00 p.m., after which they will return to the stockyards via Agnew.

Attendees can look forward to an authentic Chuck Wagon camp that will showcase traditional cooking demonstrations, with tastings of cobbler, stew, cornbread, and other dishes available at noon. Live music performances will enliven the day on the Corral stage, featuring talented artists such as Tanner Fields, Cowboy Jim Garling, and Maddox Ross. Additionally, the Little Miss and Mr. Stockyards City pageant will be held at noon, and Charros Del Roble will present roping demonstrations at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The Corral stage is situated at the intersection of Exchange Avenue and Youngs Boulevard.

A Made in Oklahoma Market will highlight locally made products, with various demonstrations and tastings scheduled throughout the day. Located next to Little Joe's Boots, this market aims to promote regional craftsmanship. For families, the Kids Corral will offer a variety of engaging activities, such as a petting zoo, pony rides, face painting, and dummy roping, all designed to foster an appreciation for agriculture in Oklahoma.

Art will be showcased this year as Oklahoma plein air painters will be present to capture the event's spirit visually. Visitors can observe the artists at work and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere. In keeping with the theme of artistic expression, the Oklahoma's Best Beef Competition will kick off at 11:00 a.m., featuring beef producers from across the state vying for awards. Attendees will have the opportunity to sample and vote for their favorite dish, with wristband purchases benefiting the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Foundation. The awards ceremony is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.

This family-friendly event offers a comprehensive experience of Stockyards City, with opportunities to explore local restaurants, shops, and iconic sights. Stockyards City Main Street is encouraging everyone to join in the festivities on October 19th. Further details about the Stampede can be obtained by emailing Stockyards City Main Street or visiting their official website.
