On September 7, the OKC Zoo will host a celebration for World Primate Day, inviting visitors to explore its diverse primate population, including lemurs, chimpanzees, and gorillas. The event will run from 9 a.m. to noon at the Great EscApe habitat, featuring activities such as caretaker chats, animal enrichment, and trivia. The Oklahoma Zoological Society will also facilitate plush primate adoptions.
Additionally, guests are encouraged to donate old cell phones or handheld devices to support the 'Gorillas on the Line' initiative, which reduces the demand for conflict minerals and promotes gorilla conservation. In return for their donations, guests will receive a complimentary Zoo admission ticket.
