RIVERSPORT's Bike Park is set to reopen on October 4th at 11 a.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony featuring professional BMX riders Chase Hawk and Aaron Ross. The park includes a mountain bike skills course and three world-class mountain bike/BMX tracks designed for bikes, skateboards, and skaters. The park is open to the public, with certain times reserved for pass holders. Helmets, knee pads, and elbow pads are required for guests using the pump tracks.
The park is also expanding to become a central hub for the newly completed Greenway River Trails, which will open in Fall 2024. The expansion includes a new bike plaza, extended trails, a community garden, and an outdoor classroom. Unique features of the project include a welcome center, coffee shop, ADA-compliant restrooms, and an elevated trail that will travel across the rooftops of shipping containers. Once complete, the expansion will allow cyclists to complete an 80-mile loop around Oklahoma City on paved trails while also accessing enhanced mountain bike trails and jump lines.
The project is funded by grants from the Oklahoma Recreational Trails Program, the Oklahoma City Community Foundation, and anonymous donors. It was designed by Allford Hall Monaghan Morris, with Burnett Construction serving as the general contractor.
The park includes the Velosolutions Pump Track, a 15,000-square-foot asphalt track with seamless paved waves and an integrated timing system for virtual competitions. The track, the largest of its kind in the U.S., was partially funded by The Recreational Trails Program.
Additionally, the park features the Momentum Pump Track, a fiberglass mountain bike/BMX course designed with berms, bumps, and jumps that allow riders to use gravity and body weight to navigate the course. A smaller fiberglass speed ring is also available next to the Velosolutions track.
