The 37th Annual Hogeye Festival, organized by the City of Elgin Main Street Program, is a vibrant downtown street festival celebrated on the fourth Saturday of October. The festival embraces community spirit, family activities, the renowned Elgin Sausage, and themes related to swine, creating an inviting atmosphere for attendees.
Participants can enjoy a variety of activities, including Cow Patty Bingo, where they can win prizes based on the results of an amusing game. The BBQ Pork Cook Off provides an opportunity to sample delicious offerings, while live music keeps the energy lively throughout the day. Attendees can also explore handmade arts and crafts and admire the Pearls Before Swine Art Show, which showcases the creativity of local artists.
Children have their own dedicated activities, and families can take a leisurely stroll through the Road Hog Car Show. For those seeking a bit of challenge, the ACME Brick throwing contest is available, providing a fun way to test one's aim. The festival also promises entertainment with sing-alongs to playful tunes, accompanied by the arrival of motorcycles led by The Elgin Sowpremes.
This free festival is made possible through the efforts of local volunteers, known as hogunteers, and the support of generous business sponsors. It proudly carries the title of “The Best Little Pig Gig In Texas,” reflecting its charm and community engagement in Downtown Elgin.
