2024 Roots and Wings Festival Events
The Roots & Wings Festival is an annual celebration that brings together the community to honor trees, pollinators, and various wildlife. This event emphasizes the interconnectedness of individuals and their local ecosystems, promoting the idea that fostering these connections leads to a more resilient and healthier community.
Rather than being a single event, the Roots & Wings Festival encompasses multiple celebrations taking place throughout neighborhoods in Austin. These community-led gatherings focus on the urban forest ecosystem, highlighting elements such as trees, butterflies, plants, fungi, soil health, birds, bats, and pollinators, among others.
In 2023, the festival successfully supported over 129 community-led events, showcasing its dedication to grassroots involvement. The festival also encourages organizations to participate as event hosts, with an application period running from April to August, during which grant funding is available for qualifying groups. This initiative aims to further enhance community engagement and environmental awareness throughout the region.
