  • Ballet Austin: Donde van las Mariposas - A Fable from Mexico

Donde van las Mariposas / A Fable from México,' which translates to 'Where the Butterflies Go,' is a production created by Mexican-American choreographer Jimmy Orrante. This work draws inspiration from Mexican culture and delves into themes of environmental significance and cultural traditions, particularly focusing on the migration of monarch butterflies and the customs associated with Día de los Muertos.

The production aims to enhance young audiences' understanding of diverse cultures and perspectives while serving as an engaging introduction to the world of performing arts. By intertwining storytelling with dance, it seeks to foster appreciation for cultural heritage through the lens of the natural world.

Ballet Austin TWO will be performing this piece, showcasing the concept and choreography developed by Orrante. The musical accompaniment for the production will come from Pond5, adding an auditory element that complements the visual experience. Overall, this work represents a thoughtful exploration of themes that resonate deeply with cultural identity and environmental awareness.
