Hamilton Pool Preserve, a natural marvel, became officially protected by the Travis County Commissioner's Court in 1990. This historic swimming hole is nestled 3/4 mile upstream from its confluence with the Pedernales River. Here, Hamilton Creek cascades over limestone cliffs to form a breathtaking 50-foot waterfall, which, although it may reduce to a trickle in dry periods, feeds into a largely constant-level pool. This scenic preserve is also a haven for an array of native wildlife, including birds, fish, and plants.
To ensure the preservation of its natural beauty and to manage visitor impact, the preserve mandates reservations for entry seven days a week. Potential visitors must book their spots online prior to their arrival. It is advised to arrive at least an hour before the reservation slot concludes to fully experience what the preserve has to offer. Late entries past the reserved time frame are not permitted, ensuring a controlled and enjoyable environment for all guests.
