  • The Vortex: La Maleta De Maebelle (Maebelle's Suitcase)

La Maleta de Maebelle,' presented by Glass Half Full Theatre, offers a bilingual adaptation of Tricia Tusa's 'Maebelle's Suitcase.' This world premiere production, set for June 15-29, 2024, engages multigenerational audiences with its charming tale. Maebelle forms a unique friendship with a bird named Binkle, exploring themes of memory and letting go, as they navigate their desires to carry belongings back to their homeland, Colombia. The performance is enriched by original Colombian music from Kiko Villamizar.

This captivating show combines sophisticated puppetry with environmental undertones, promising an immersive experience. Talents such as Stephanie Vasquez Fonseca and Gricelda Silva bring the story to life, supported by the creative design team including Caroline Reck, Kelli Bland, Anatar Marmol Gagne, and others. Shows are scheduled for evenings on Thursdays and Fridays, and afternoon and evening performances on Saturdays and Sundays, inviting audiences to embark on a heartwarming journey of nostalgia and release.
