Austin's Congress Avenue Bridge hosts America's most famed bat colony, with numbers ranging from 500,000 to 1.5 million Brazilian free-tailed bats. These bats find shelter in narrow crevices between the bridge's concrete beams, which also facilitate an ideal temperature for rearing their young.
